The Legacy of Mosi Oa Tunya (The Smoke that Thunders)

Embark on a unique smoking journey with Burley Badger, where tradition, quality, and sustainability meet to create hand-rolled cigars like no other. Based in Guildford, UK, our story begins in Zimbabwe, where Mosi Oa Tunya source the finest local filler/binder tobacco and world-class imported wrappers to craft cigars that embody the spirit of the land.

Each cigar is expertly blended by a talented team of local women, trained by master cigar-rollers from the Caribbean, to bring you a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Inspired by the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, also known as “The Smoke That Thunders”, every puff transports you to the mystical home of the Lozi people.

Our filler and binder is grown on a small research plantation in a region of Banket situated between Lake Kariba and Harare. This location is classified a medium to fast growing region due to ideal soil and climatic conditions. The burley and wrapper leaf plantations are managed by the Kutsaga Tobacco Research Institute (est.1950) and is overseen by highly specialized members of the Institute.
Mosi Oa Tunya has an agreement for the “pick” off this very special plantation. A combination of this fine origin and Shep Mafundikwa’s blending skills has created a unique and amazing depth of flavor.
